National Training Seminar (NTS)

NTS is the annual summer conference for all Shido-kan karate practitioners.

NTS instruction is led by head master teacher, Seikichi Iha, Hanshi, 10th Dan, along with Shido-kan Sensei’s and seniors from around the globe.

During the seminar, youth and adult participants will have the opportunity to participate in training to improve knowledge and skills in the fundamentals of Shido-kan technique as well as the understanding of kata, kumite and one-on-one partnership drills and bunkai (group application of kata).

Youth and teen participants will have the additional opportunity to participate in a Saturday afternoon kata tournament.

Kobudo bo sessions will also be included for members of the Ryukyu-Ocho Shurite Kobujutsu Association.

Who Should Attend?

The training event is for all ranks and ages age 7 and above. (youth seminars are for age 7-13; adult seminars age 14 and above. The youth tournament is for ages 4-13. Seminar sessions are designed so that anyone, no matter what rank or age, will benefit and learn. Most importantly, you'll have a chance to meet and renew contacts with fellow students and teachers from around the world.

Accommodations & Parking

New this year, NTS will be held in a spacious and convenient location at the Sheraton Lansing Hotel.

This "all in one" location offers:

• Spacious, air-conditioned training areas in the ground floor conference center.
• Changing areas on the ground floor next to the seminar rooms.
• Easy access to lounge areas, pool, restaurant and hotel rooms during breaks.
• Double rooms at a reduced conference flat rate that can be split by multiple people.
• Delicious meals in the hotel restaurant. The hotel will also provide low cost "to go" items for breakfasts and lunches. There are other restaurants close to the hotel as well. (Saturday dinner and Sunday banquet are still included in the "Seminar and Events" conference rate.)

• Family activity areas (pool, whirlpool, basketball court, game room, fitness room in hotel).
• Easy access by hotel shuttle and freeways to the airport and other Lansing locations.

Conference fixed double room rates may be split between multiple occupants. Rate also applies for 4-days prior to and following the event. The North American Beikoku Shido-kan Karate-do Association encompasses members training in over 30 affiliated dojos located throughout North America, as well as overseas.

Headquartered in Lansing, Michigan USA, the Association is overseen by Seikichi Iha, Hanshi 10th Dan. Iha Sensei's goal is the continuous promotion of friendship and cooperation among all students of karate-do.
